Got a Coffee Habit?
We need to declare an interest here in that, as coffee addicts, we are looking for research that confirms the benefits of our ‘habit’ – I think it’s called cognitive bias.
Anyway, we didn’t have to look far because good news for coffee lovers is seemingly all around us.
For example, according to scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine, coffee may help protect older people against inflammation, which is what ultimately causes many age-related diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, joint problems, Alzheimer’s and many types of cancer.
Even better, the Stanford doctors say the more caffeine the older folk drank, the more protection they received against chronic inflammation. These findings may go a long way in explaining why java enthusiasts tend to live longer than those who don’t partake.
All of which begs the question: why isn’t our daily fix available on prescription?
